SHED Architecture and Design
||Architect II / III
||SHED is looking for a talented and motivated designer/architect. This person will work closely with principals and teams to design and manage projects from Pre-Design through Contract Administration. This person will have proven their ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and is responsible for:
•Design and production drawings
•Project Management (communication with clients and contractors)
•Overseeing small teams
•Permit and construction documents
•Strong candidates will:
•Have a portfolio that demonstrates outstanding design skills and dedication to design process
•Have 5 – 10 years’ experience in the field of architecture, specifically in commercial and residential
•Be licensed in the state of Washington
•Be proficient in Sketchup, which is our primary design tool.
•Have knowledge of sustainable design principles and practices including Passive House, Built Green and LEED; LEED and/or PHIUS Certification a plus
•Have a big picture understanding of the permitting process including communicating with local departments and overseeing the preparation of accurate permit and construction sets
•Have a solid understanding of construction assemblies, material properties, etc.
•Be proficient in BIM software, Adobe software
•Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and listening skills
•Communicate effectively verbally, graphically and in writing; present design ideas clearly and with confidence;
•Excel at researching and resolving technical issues.

•Adaptive re-use of existing (mostly historic) commercial buildings
•High-performance residential construction (LEED, Passive House, Net-Zero)
•Residential remodels/additions (mostly Mid-Century Modern)
