Japan: Compulsory Solar Panels on New Buildings?

It is thought that Japanese Prime Minister, Naoto Kan will announce plans to make the installation of solar panels mandatory on all new builds by 2030 at the G8 Summit this Thursday, local news site AkihabaraNews reported this morning.

In light of the recent devastation caused by the nuclear crisis in Fukushima, Japan is said to be reviewing its position on renewable energy sources, with the option of compulsory photovoltaic panels to reduce the dependency on nuclear power.

News source AFP also reports that whilst Japan ‘intends to continue operating nuclear plants', it is hoped that ‘technological innovation will drastically bring down costs of solar power generation'.

I feel as though Japan will become the country that comes up with a new source of energy because of the nuclear crisis. It's like how America at one time was a country of people who dreamed of the future and sought for new innovations and thinking. They had crazy and irrelevant ideas, but 1 out of 1000 ideas could work. So who knows what could happen.

MGM Resorts' commitment to green building from the earliest stages of design on the CityCenter project has resulted in a world class property that is not only a stunning design, but also sets a new standard for sustainability in the hospitality industry." ???
