AIA Conference of Architecture (June 6-8 | Las Vegas, Nevada

The theme for this year’s AIA Conference of Architecture or A’19 is “Blueprint for a Better Future”. It will take place between June 6 and 8 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Las Vegas is the ideal place for this conference as it exploring the architecture of the future with an eye on sustainability. While the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Las Vegas is its casinos and its nightlife, the city has also invested in schools, hospitals, community centers, parks, etc.

At A’19 a number of top architects and designers, firms as well as futurists will conduct sessions on artificial intelligence, data visualization and 3D concrete printing. You will also get an opportunity to learn more about Amazon Spheres, nano-grid condos and tall wood buildings. The sessions will also explore immigrant architects, overcoming houselessness and designing border crossings and ports of entry.

As mentioned earlier, sustainable design will be a major focus at the conference. As a part of that, sessions will cover recent developments in WELL design, zero net energy affordable housing, energy-hog myth as well as discuss new codes and standards. You will also get to go on architecture tours of some standout places in Las Vegas, including Frank Gehry’s Lou Ruvo Brain Center, Seven Magic Mountains and the Downtown Container Park.

The keynote events will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center on June 6th at 5pm and on June 8th at 8am. The keynote lineup hasn’t been finalized yet, but should be announced soon. Here’s the list of the other speakers and participants at the conference.

The complete schedules for Seminars, Workshops and Tours are already available. As you may be aware, licensed architects need to earn fresh credits every year to meet the membership requirements of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). You can earn these credits at A’19 along with your HSW and GBCI credits.

Besides the conference, the Architecture Expo will also be taking place on June 6th and 7th, with over 750 exhibitors. On both days, the expo hours will be between 9:30am and 5pm.
