Architecture Billings Index Shows Slight Increase
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) reported the July ABI score was 47.9, up from a reading of 46.0 the previous month. This score reflects a continued decline in demand for design services (a score above 50 indicates an increase in billings). The new projects inquiry index dropped substantially from 57.7 to 53.1.

AECOM Increases Market Share with Acquisitions
Engineering and design firm Aecom Technology Corp has just purchased Davis Langdon for $324m. The deal is the latest in a series of acquisitions for the company, who agreed to buy McNeil Technologies Inc from private equity firm Veritas Capital for $355m last Wednesday and paid $245m in cash and stock for Tishman Construction Corp in July.
